ABOUT ME

Visiting Taormina, Sicily in 2012

I have always had an interest in nursing, even as a child.  My mother worked as a Neuro ICU nurse for many years, and taught me the true meaning of determination and selflessness from a young age.  I was intrigued by her profession from a young age, and spent many afternoons on the floor of her closet, gazing in awe at the pictures in her nursing textbooks.  Although my parents both attended the "OTHER" school (The University of Alabama), I knew I wanted to explore outside of my comfort zone and therefore chose to attend Auburn.  I love everything about Auburn University, from its timeless traditions to the small town atmosphere.  Being accepted into Auburn School of Nursing was the fulfillment of a goal that I worked very hard to achieve.  I truly love nursing, especially the aspect that allows success in many different specializations.  Besides nursing, I enjoy studying child development, especially as it relates to the hospitalized child. I had the opportunity to attain a minor in Human Development and Family Studies during my time at Auburn, and I believe the knowledge I gained regarding development across the lifespan will aid me in becoming a well rounded nurse.

Although born and raised in Birmingham, AL, I have the heart of an explorer. I have a special interest in culture and love to picture myself living in the place I am visiting.  When I'm not traveling, I'm counting down the days until I can return to summer camp. Camp Smile-A-Mile is my heart! I fell in love with nursing, especially pediatrics, after my first summer at camp in 2010.  From my campers, I have learned the importance of living for the moment.  I am thankful for camp and the fun memories made there, especially the ones that led me towards nursing.  Additionally, I enjoy reading (American classics), exercising (especially Zumba!), and spending time with my sweet family.
